Pixel Tag Manager documentation
Paste your Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or Pinterest Tag ID and the tracking code is added to every page. You don’t need to edit the theme header, and tracking can wait until the visitor accepts cookies.
Overview
Tracking codes get pasted into theme headers, page builders and plugins by different people, so sites end up with duplicates, missing tags or code nobody can remove.
Plan: Free. Everything on this page is in the free plugin.
Setup
- Go to WP Extended in your WordPress admin and find Pixel Tag Manager under Developer Tools.
- Switch Pixel Tag Manager on.
- Open its settings, adjust the options below and save.
Settings
| Setting | What it does | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Wait for cookie consent | Sends Google Analytics with Consent Mode v2 set to denied, and holds the Facebook and Pinterest pixels, until the visitor accepts cookies in Complianz, CookieYes or Cookie Notice. | Free |
Questions and troubleshooting
Is Pixel Tag Manager free?
Yes. It is in the free plugin.
Does it handle cookie consent?
Yes. Switch on Wait for cookie consent and Google Analytics loads with Consent Mode v2 set to denied, while the Meta and Pinterest pixels wait until the visitor accepts cookies in Complianz, CookieYes or Cookie Notice. It is on by default for new installs.
I updated from an earlier version. Is consent switched on?
No. Sites that set up Pixel Tag Manager before 3.4.0 keep their tracking exactly as it was. Turn on Wait for cookie consent in the module’s settings when you’re ready.
I use a different cookie banner. What can I do?
Leave Wait for cookie consent off and add your tags through your consent tool, or through Code Snippets where your consent tool controls them.
It isn’t working as expected
Check the module is switched on and its settings are saved. If another plugin does the same job, deactivate one of them. Then clear any page cache and test again. Still stuck? Pro customers can contact support; free users can post on the WordPress.org forum.
