Menu Visibility documentation
Set each navigation menu item to show for everyone, only logged-in visitors or only logged-out visitors.
Overview
Sites with accounts need a Login link for visitors and an Account link for members. Without visibility rules, everyone sees both.
Plan: Free. Everything on this page is in the free plugin.
Setup
- Turn on Menu Visibility under Admin Tools.
- Open Appearance → Menus and expand an item.
- Under Menu Item Visibility For, choose Logged In, Logged Out or Everyone, then save the menu.
Questions and troubleshooting
Is Menu Visibility free?
Yes. It is in the free plugin.
Can I show menu items to specific roles?
No. Menu Visibility works on whether a visitor is logged in or not. For admin pages, Menu Editor does control access by role.
Does hiding a link protect the page?
No. It only hides the link. Protect the page itself with your membership plugin or page settings.
What other menu tools are there?
Duplicate Menu copies a navigation menu, and Menu Editor tidies the admin sidebar. See all three WordPress menu tools.
It isn’t working as expected
Check the module is switched on and its settings are saved. If another plugin does the same job, deactivate one of them. Then clear any page cache and test again. Still stuck? Pro customers can contact support; free users can post on the WordPress.org forum.
