Media Replace documentation
Upload a new version of any image or document over the old one. Every page, post and link that uses it shows the new file straight away.
Overview
When a price list PDF or a team photo changes, WordPress makes you upload a new file with a new URL, then find and update every page that linked to the old one.
Miss one and visitors download last year’s brochure.
Plan: Pro. Requires an active WP Extended Pro licence.
Setup
- Go to WP Extended in your WordPress admin and find Media Replace under Media Tools.
- Switch Media Replace on.
- There is nothing to configure. The module works as soon as it is on.
Questions and troubleshooting
Is Media Replace free?
No. It is part of WP Extended Pro.
Can I replace a JPEG with a PNG?
No. The replacement must be the same file type as the original, which keeps every existing link and embed working.
Will I see the new image straight away?
Yes, though your browser or a caching plugin may show the old version until its cache clears.
It isn’t working as expected
Check the module is switched on and its settings are saved. If another plugin does the same job, deactivate one of them. Then clear any page cache and test again. Still stuck? Pro customers can contact support; free users can post on the WordPress.org forum.
