Folder Manager documentation
Drag media, posts and pages into folders, so you can find things in a library of thousands of files.
Overview
The WordPress media library is one long grid sorted by date. On a site with years of uploads, finding last spring’s product photos means scrolling and searching by file name.
Plan: Free + Pro options. The options marked Pro below need WP Extended Pro.
Setup
- Go to WP Extended in your WordPress admin and find Folder Manager under Content Management.
- Switch Folder Manager on.
- Open its settings, adjust the options below and save.
Settings
| Setting | What it does | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Post Types | Select which post types to enable folder manager for. | Pro |
| Show Folder Counts | Display item counts next to folder names. | Pro |
Questions and troubleshooting
Is Folder Manager free?
Yes. Folders are free. Choosing post types and showing counts are part of WP Extended Pro.
Do folders change file URLs?
No. Folders are for organising in the admin. File paths and URLs stay the same.
It isn’t working as expected
Check the module is switched on and its settings are saved. If another plugin does the same job, deactivate one of them. Then clear any page cache and test again. Still stuck? Pro customers can contact support; free users can post on the WordPress.org forum.
Developers
