Disable Comments documentation
Remove comment forms, the Comments menu and the admin bar link in one switch. No more spam to moderate on sites that never needed comments.
Overview
Most business sites never use comments, but WordPress keeps the forms open by default. Bots fill the moderation queue with spam, and old posts keep accepting comments nobody reads.
Turning comments off by hand means changing discussion settings, editing every existing post and hiding menus.
Plan: Pro. Requires an active WP Extended Pro licence.
Setup
- Go to WP Extended in your WordPress admin and find Disable Comments under Performance & Control.
- Switch Disable Comments on.
- There is nothing to configure. The module works as soon as it is on.
Questions and troubleshooting
Is Disable Comments free?
No. It is part of WP Extended Pro.
Are existing comments deleted?
No. Comments stay in the database and are hidden. Switch the module off and they come back.
Will WooCommerce product reviews still work?
Yes. Product reviews can be kept while comments are off everywhere else.
It isn’t working as expected
Check the module is switched on and its settings are saved. If another plugin does the same job, deactivate one of them. Then clear any page cache and test again. Still stuck? Pro customers can contact support; free users can post on the WordPress.org forum.
