Classic Editor documentation
Replace the block editor with the classic editor for teams and content that work better with it. Pro lets you choose which post types use it.
Overview
Some sites, themes and editorial teams still rely on the classic editor. Installing a separate plugin to get it back adds one more thing to update.
Plan: Free + Pro options. The options marked Pro below need WP Extended Pro.
Setup
- Go to WP Extended in your WordPress admin and find Classic Editor under Content Management.
- Switch Classic Editor on.
- Open its settings, adjust the options below and save.

Questions and troubleshooting
Is Classic Editor free?
Yes. Choosing post types is part of WP Extended Pro.
Will my block content break?
Block content opens in the classic editor as HTML. Switch the module off to edit those posts in the block editor again.
It isn’t working as expected
Check the module is switched on and its settings are saved. If another plugin does the same job, deactivate one of them. Then clear any page cache and test again. Still stuck? Pro customers can contact support; free users can post on the WordPress.org forum.
Developers
Classic Editor has 2 hooks. See the Classic Editor developer reference.
